Heath's Family Background
The first greenhouse at Heath's Greenhouse and Nursery was constructed in 1989, from the inception of Heath's Environmental Enterprise in 1972. Owner and operator Tom Heath became inspired, after the birth of his youngest child in 1989, with the idea of starting a home based, retail greenhouse and nursery business.. It was paramount for him to grow using natural methods, such as incorporating beneficial insects, in a 100% pesticide-free greenhouse. After all, he didn't want to expose his child, and family to toxic pesticide exposure.
All while carrying his daughter on his back, around the greenhouse, he managed to find a balance. She was fascinated in learning about beneficial insects and helping release lady bugs in the greenhouse. She loved assisting her dad with caring for the greenhouse; such as seeding and transplanting. Tom is well experienced in natural pest (insect) control management with 35+ years of self training.
Heath's Ancestors
The ancestors of Tom Heath (owner) settled along the Connecticut river in Newbury, Vermont in 1762. The Heath descendants established the Heath Farm (dairy) in Haverhill, NH in the year 1820 after leaving the ancestral farm in Newbury, VT and homesteading in Bath, NH for a few years.

In the greenhouse
Heath's Greenhouse take great care in growing their annual flowers; vegetable and herb plants, from organic and untreated seeds, mostly heirloom or open pollinating varieties in our greenhouse, using OMRI Listed/organic products - seeds, soils, fertilizers & amendments; also all natural pest control, including beneficial insects (such as Beneficial Nematodes).
Growing a wide range of annuals throughout the growing season, including naturally grown flowering hanging baskets, bedding flowers, potted flowers and seedlings. Heath's products are grown without the use of any chemical fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides.
In the nursery
